Understand some of the most common tests we use to evaluate an adhesive

  1. Tensile Shear Strength Testing A standard method for adhesive strength testing which measures the force needed to separate two parts bonded with an overlap of a specific area.
  2. Peel Strength Testing One method called the Climbing Drum Peel Test allows for the calculation of an adhesive’s peel strength under peel loading - independent of the substrate it is bonded to.
  3. Impact Testing Testing for impact resistance includes dropping a weight from a set height onto a bonded assembly and then recording the energy absorbed.
  4. Environmental & Durability Testing In the real world, adhesives are exposed to various temperatures, moisture levels and harsh chemicals - and we subject bonded assemblies to these conditions in the laboratory.
